Health Equity
We aim to make big changes in healthcare so our mob gets timely and quality care, helping everyone live strong and healthy lives.
The healthcare system can be complex and often works in isolation. To fix this, we’ve partnered with Hospital and Health Services (HHSs), Primary Health Networks (PHNs), and Community Controlled Health Services (CCHSs) across South East Queensland (SEQ) to promote health equity through the creation of the South East Queensland First Nations Health Equity strategy.
Health equity means giving the right care at the right time in the right place so our people can live long, healthy lives.
Our goal is to close the gap and achieve health equity for our mob by 2031. We’ll do this through partnerships that make the health system more accessible, connected, and responsive. We’ll strengthen services for First Nations people, enhance the role of CCHSs, and improve cultural safety in healthcare.
Vision
- Improved access to and experience of health services.
- First Nations people experience the same health outcomes as other Australians within our region.
- A culturally safe health system free of institutional and interpersonal racism.
Community Engagement
To achieve meaningful, relevant and sustainable change, we need your input. Like any change that affects our people, we believe it should be underpinned by community consultation that gives our people the opportunity to shape the direction and strategy for change. Yarn with us here and we will provide updates about engagement outcomes, including action that has been initiated as a result of community input.
